‘18 Till I Die’ isn’t just a great Bryan Adams song, deep down, it’s also a wish. And wishes can come true, as long as you put in a little work.

Eating right goes a long way in keeping wrinkles at bay. So, we thought we’ll do our bit by telling all you gorgeous women how to prevent the signs of ageing—all you have to do is include the following in your diet.

Avocados:

avacado

This buttery fruit packs a punch. It does wonders to hide signs of ageing on your skin. A rich source of monounsaturated fats (the healthy kind), it helps keep your skin hydrated, smooth. Avocados are best eaten raw, so toss a few chunks in your salads along with sprouts, micro greens, walnuts and tomatoes, and dress it with olive oil and lemon vinaigrette. Avoca-do it!

Oats:

Oats are complex carbohydrates and have a low glycemic index. In normal people speak, this means they don’t spike your blood sugar dramatically, which often leads to pimples and wrinkles. Simply add oats to your milk (hot or cold), then top it with flavoured yogurt, some dried fruits and sunflower seeds, because, let’s face it, as healthy as oats are, they could do with a little more flavour.

Fruits and vegetables:

Fruits and Vegetable

Listen to your parents! Eat your greens (and fruits). Ladies, it’s the one solid tip to age slowly, and more gracefully. They are full of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fibres, poly-nutrients, enzymes and more. Eat them raw or cooked. Better still, juice them. When you juice them, it’s easier for your body to absorb nutrients.

Fish:

salmon fish

Most fatty fish like salmon, mackerel and sardines are excellent sources of Omega-3 fats. It not only helps boost immunity but also keeps skin ailments at bay. Fish is a versatile meat to cook; put it in salads, curries, or eat it grilled, with some lemon and garlic as dressing.

Tomatoes

10 reason to eat tomatoes

Didn’t we all, at some point, believe that eating tomatoes will make our cheeks red like a tomato? Well, they don’t really but they are great for your skin. The lycopene in tomatoes act as a natural sunblock and protects against UV rays that cause sun spots, dryness and wrinkles. Throw them into salads and sandwiches, and of course, Bloody Marys.

Turmeric

This Indian spice has long been known for its medicinal properties. It’s quite the master spice, in goodness more than flavour. Turmeric has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. It’s incredible for the general (good) health of your body. You can add it to vegetables while cooking or to hot milk and drink it before bed.

Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate

Yay! Finally! Dark chocolates are rich in flavonoids and low on sugar, which means they are not just good for your soul and (certain) moods, but also your body. Treat yourself to a bar of dark chocolate, you deserve it.

Clearly the way to younger looking skin is through your tummy.
