Monsoons in India spell romance and love for a lot of people and more often than not spell trouble for everyone’s hair and hair-care routine. The rain usually knocks at our days unannounced and uninvited, we either choose to stay under cover or make a run for it to our destinations and in those few seconds we put our hair through some serious trauma and drama.
Once dry hair gets wet, the humidity and dirt adversely affects hair and compromises on the quality of your long or short luscious locks.
Hair falls due to the high humidity, acid rain or dirty rain water which makes the hair dry and brittle. If you use chemical color or other hair products, they make your hair oily and greasy due to the excess humidity.
Here are a few great tips to tackle hairfall woes this monsoon:
Always use mild shampoo
Mild shampoos are essential for dry and frizzy hair which are the result of the constant process of stepping in and out of the rain. These shampoos are meant to gently cleanse your hair of dirt and grime and not harm your hair further. Strong and harsh shampoos damage your hair more than before due to all the endless chemicals they have.
Never tie wet hair
Fresh out of a shower or fresh out of the rain, do not make the rookie mistake of tying up your hair, especially into a tight ponytail or bun. You will be causing much more damage to your hair by making them brittle and weak which in most cases leads to hair fall.
Air drying your locks is the best option or you can blow dry your hair on a low setting.
Use separate, clean and wide toothed combs
While you comb your hair make sure to use wide toothed combs as compared to close compact combs or brushes because this causes breakage and brittle hair. You will also end up causing more frizz in your hair because of rough hair combing
Wait until your hair is completely dry and then start to comb because wet hair is usually weak and more susceptible to breakage.
Serum for the win
After you comb out your knots and vows, make sure to serum up! Serum works as a moisturiser for your hair and protects your hair from the harmful heat, dust and humidity.
Now you’re all set to conquer!
